Men’s Golf claims school’s first-ever national championship
The Saint Leo men’s golf team captured the NCAA Division II national championship after taking down Chico State, 3-2, in the finals of medal match play on Saturday, May 21. This was the first team title in Saint Leo history. Read the complete release.

Saint Leo takes SSC Men’s Mayors’ Cup; 2nd in women’s race
Saint Leo University has captured the Sunshine State Conference Men’s Mayors’ Cup, representing overall supremacy among SSC institutions in men’s conference competition. The Lions finished second in the race for the Women’s Mayors’ Cup for the second year in a row. Read the complete release.
Freshman Hugo Bernard claimed NCAA DII Individual Championship
After three rounds of stoke play, freshman Hugo Bernard shot a -13 at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in Denver, CO, to claim the individual title and the first national championship of any kind in Saint Leo history. He helped the Lions to a first-place finish in stroke play, giving them the No. 1 seed for match play. Read the complete release.
Men’s Tennis finishes as runner-up at NCAA championship
The Saint Leo men’s tennis team fell to Hawaii Pacific, 5-3, in the NCAA championship match in Denver, CO. Saint Leo wrapped up its season with a 27-2 record, both losses coming to HPU. The Lions finish as National Runners-Up in their first-ever trip to the NCAA Championships. Read the complete release.

Women’s Tennis finishes as National Semifinalist
The Saint Leo women’s tennis team fell to No. 1 BYU-Hawaii, 5-3, in the NCAA semifinals match. This marks Saint Leo’s second National Semifinalist finish in the last three years, matching the NCAA tournament finish in 2014. The Lions wrapped up 2016 with their first-ever Sunshine State regular season title, first-ever wins over then-No.1 Armstrong State, and then-No.5 Barry, and an overall record of 23-3. Women’s Golf finishes fourth at NCAA Championships
In its first trip to the NCAA national championships, the Saint Leo women’s golf team put together the best round of the fourth day to move to fourth place. Sophomore Vilde Eriksen was the top Lion finisher in the championship, tying for ninth overall with a four-day score of 295 (+7). Read the complete release.

Rampf headed back to NCAA outdoor track championships
Sophomore Colett Rampf received the official nod to compete in the 2016 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships over Thursday, May 26, through Saturday, May 28, at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. Rampf will be one of 22 entries in the 3000m steeplechase, among 377 women in the championship. Read complete release.
Adkins earns D2CCA All-America Honors in softball
Junior Stephanie Adkins was named a Second Team All-American by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA), when their All-America teams were announced last Tuesday. Adkins, who posted an 18-4 record in the circle with 164 strikeouts, is the sixth All-American in Saint Leo softball history. Read the complete release.
Tennis programs honored nationally and regionally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association
Freshman Natalia Siedliska was named Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Female Rookie of the Year and South Region Rookie of the Year, while head coach Chris Frusci was named the ITA’s National and South Region Coach of the Year on both the men’s and women’s side. Freshman Alberto Barroso-Campos was named South Region Rookie of the Year, while senior Isabella Robbiani was named Most Improved Player in the South Region.

Bernard earns GCAA/PING All-America and Phil Mickelson awards
Freshman Hugo Bernard was named to the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) PING Division II All-America First Team and was named to the Division II recipient of the GCAA’s Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award for 2016. Read the complete release.
• Lions name four to GCAA/PING All-South Region
Sieber, Mata tabbed Second Team All-South Region, First Team All-SSC
Saint Leo junior Troy Sieber and redshirt junior Alex Mata were named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-South Region Second Team as well as First Team All-Sunshine State Conference selections. Seiber was also named to the DII Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) All-South Region Second Team. Sieber finished the regular season with an SSC-leading .457 batting average and a .553 on base percentage. Mata recorded a .388 batting average for the Lions, and was tied with Sieber with a team-leading 55 runs batted in.

Coors named to WGCA All-South Region team
Saint Leo University junior Marie Coors was named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division II All-South Region team, which was unveiled last Monday. The honor marks Coors’ second selection to the WGCA All-South Region team, after previously earning a spot on the squad in 2014 as a freshman. Read the complete release.

Saint Leo head men’s golf coach Chris Greenwood is one of five finalists for the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Dave Williams Division II National Coach of the Year Award presented by Golf Pride Grips. Read the complete release.
