Five Saint Leo swimmers earn All-SSC honors at Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships
Five Saint Leo swimmers, including First Team honorees Natalia Garriock and Daniel Bis, earned spots on All-Sunshine State Conference teams, announced on Sunday at the conclusion of the 2016 SSC Swimming Championships. Both teams finished fifth at this year’s SSC meet. Read the complete release.
Men’s golf, softball, and men’s tennis athletes receive SSC accolades
A trio of Saint Leo spring student-athletes were the recipient of Sunshine State Conference weekly honors last week.
– Men’s golf senior Liam Ainsworth was tabbed as the SSC Men’s Golfer of the Week after taking individual medalist honors the previous weekend at the Florida Southern 35th Annual Matlock Collegiate Classic. Read the complete release.
– Softball junior Samantha Ohmie went 5-for-6 with two doubles, a triple, and a home run in last weekend’s series versus Colorado Christian, and was named the SSC Softball Player of the Week. Read the complete release.
– Alberto Barroso-Campos went 2-0 against a pair of nationally ranked junior college foes, including the defending junior college national champion, and was named the SSC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. Read the complete release.
Thomas B. Southard Stadium receives new scoreboard and LED board
Saint Leo’s venerable Thomas B. Southard Stadium debuted a long-anticipated new scoreboard and LED video board during the weekend series against Albany State (GA). The new boards were made possible by a gift from Pete Biscardi ’70. Read the complete release.
More than 50 Saint Leo student-athletes recognized on Fall SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll
A total of 53 student-athletes on Saint Leo’s fall athletic teams were named to the Sunshine State Conference Fall 2015 Commissioner’s Honor Roll, which was announced Thursday. Included on the list were three student-athletes who achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA. Read the complete release.
Men’s golf ranked No. 1 in a pair of national rankings
Saint Leo men’s golf found itself atop the national polls in a pair of rankings last week. The first spring update of the GolfStat relative rankings was released Wednesday with the Lions in the No. 1 spot, while the Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll was issued Friday and also placed Saint Leo in the top position.
