University Campus hosts mathematics organizations Friday and Saturday

Saint Leo University is hosting the 2016 joint meetings of the Florida Section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) and the Florida Two-Year College Mathematics Association Friday, February 26, and Saturday, February 27, at University. The president of the MAA, Dr. Francis Su, will speak at 2 p.m., February 26, in the Student Community Center boardrooms. He will discuss “Voting in Agreeable Societies” in a presentation that also features some undergraduate research, and may be of particular interest in this election year. Dr. Su’s research has applications in social sciences, so his talks carry interdisciplinary interest. Saint Leo faculty members from the Department of Mathematics and Science are presenting and participating in MAA leadership roles, and student events are part of the program as well. On-site registration is permitted, and detailed conference information is available at this link: http://sections.maa.org/florida/newsletter/callslu.htm

For more information, contact mathematics faculty member Dr. Monika Kiss at monika.kiss@saintleo.edu or (352) 588-8836.
