Saint Leo psychology students, faculty present at SEPA Conference

Dr. Tammy Zacchilli, professor of psychology and advisor for Saint Leo’s chapter of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, and 15 students recently traveled to New Orleans for the Southeastern Psychological Association Conference (SEPA). Zacchilli also serves as the Southeastern regional vice president of Psi Chi and associate editor of the Psi Chi Journal of Psychological Research.

“It is important for students to attend this conference because they are able to share the results of their research studies and network with faculty and students at other universities,” Zacchilli said. “Having research experiences can help prepare students for graduate school and for careers in psychology or other related fields.”

Students attending the conference included Kayla Fisco, Francisco Carrasquillo Alicea, O’shea Williams, Helen Huynh, Jillian Falvo, Noah Henry, Jasmine Thoey, Haileigh Guerrero, Hallie Ciucio, Emily Lampasone, Meadow Farmer, Camryn Collins, Riley Coutu, Jade Evertsz, and Sean Gallagher.

In addition to presenting at the conference, Coutu and Lampasone served on the Psi Chi steering committee with Zacchilli.

Saint Leo faculty also presented at the conference including Dr. Lara Ault, associate professor of psychology; Dr. Keith Burton, assistant professor of psychology and associate chair of the Department of Social Sciences; Dr. Cathleen Dunn, assistant professor of psychology and director of Graduate Studies in Psychology; and Dr. Kevin Kieffer, professor of psychology.
