Applause!

Applause, a monthly feature, celebrates the successes of Saint Leo University faculty and staff. If you would like to submit an accomplishment, please send details to news@saintleo.edu. Highlights may include external leadership appointments, awards, and notable presentation opportunities.

Dr. Daniel Lloyd and Dr. Thomas Humphries, two professors from the College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Philosophy, Theology, and Religion, co-authored an article recently published by Interdisciplinary Insights: The Journal of Saint Leo University’s College of Education and Social Services. “Using Bloom’s Learning Domains for Quiz-to-Discussion Progression,” applies their teamwork and collaboration in developing University Explorations courses with Learning Design to offer insights into teaching our students.

Dr. Austin Trantham, assistant professor of political science in the College of Arts and Sciences, has been elected as the new editor of The Political Scientist, the newsletter of the Florida Political Science Association. This semiannual publication features content on a variety of topics, including strategies for effective teaching and research articles in American, comparative, and international politics. Trantham also serves as a member of the organization’s executive council and American National Politics Section Chair for its annual conference.

John Agnello, senior director of Advancement, was named a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). Individuals with the CFRE credential have met a series of standards set by CFRE International, including tenure in the profession, education, and demonstrated fundraising achievement. Agnello passed a rigorous written examination testing a fundraising executive’s knowledge, skills, and abilities and has agreed to uphold accountability standards and the Donor Bill of Rights. With this new certification, Agnello looks to continue his mission of building a sustainable and inclusive culture of philanthropy at Saint Leo University.
