TKE, University Ministry partner to celebrate Oktoberfest, say goodbye to Father Randall

On October 26, University Ministry joined with Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) fraternity to host the annual Oktoberfest event.

More than 100 students, faculty, and staff gathered in the Greenfelder-Denlinger Boardrooms in the Student Community Center for a selection of classic German foods, desserts, and drinks.

The event marked an occasion for the Saint Leo community to celebrate with food and friendship. During the event, TKE announced that the members had reached their October fundraising goal to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Oktoberfest was also an opportunity for the community to celebrate with soon-to-be-departing university chaplain, Father Randall Meissen, LC.

University Ministry students thanked Meissen, who will be transferring to a chaplaincy position at Florida Institute of Technology in November, with a short presentation, cake, and a gift.

Meissen started as university chaplain at Saint Leo in October 2020 and has led University Ministry through a variety of adventures, including retreats, off-campus kayak trips, monthly Theology on Tap, and daily sacraments and spiritual direction.
