Staff performance reviews due by August 31
It’s time to gauge our performance and set new goals. All staff must complete annual performance reviews by Wednesday, August 31, 2022.
The new fiscal year is upon us, and it is time for all staff supervisors and their direct reports to review the past fiscal year and set goals for the new one. The Human Resources team realizes this can be a lengthy process and wants you to have the time to be thoughtful about both tasks. All employees will have until Wednesday, August 31, to complete the following tasks:
A. Update Your FY21-22 Goals. All employees must take a few minutes to update their current goals, which can be found in the performance section of their profile in Workday. Remember to change the status to Not Started, In Progress, or Complete, and to add any comments to each goal. Click here for a guide that shows how to do this. Note: Due to the circumstances of this past year, please be understanding especially when assessing incomplete development goals. By editing the due date, these goals can simply carry over to the new fiscal year.
B. Complete Your Performance Review. After employees update their goals, supervisors must initiate the annual performance review. As a reminder, a direct report will complete a self-review in Workday once it is initiated by the supervisor. Supervisors next will complete their review of their direct report, and then schedule a meeting to discuss the performance review with the employee. Once the meeting takes place, the employee will acknowledge receipt of the review in Workday, and the supervisor will sign off to finalize the process. C. Set Goals for FY22-23. All employees who complete their performance review in Workday must have a performance goal and a development goal set for the coming year. This must be completed by August 31. Please note this year an organization goal will not be included in the performance evaluation process. Supervisors will set the performance goal for each of their direct reports and every individual employee will set their development goal. While we want all staff to take this process seriously, the university also understands that we are still learning how best to use this process for the benefit of our community. Each year we will get better, and the process will develop. The Learning and Development team is offering employees new opportunities to learn more about each step of this process through a live session with our Human Resources staff. Finally, please remember that feedback between employees and supervisors should be taking place throughout the entire year. Our performance review period simply documents a review of that feedback and sets expectations for the future.
