Career Services webinar dives deeper into obtaining federal government positions

Career Services will host a second session of its Leaders in the Industry Webinar Series on federal employment with an outreach specialist for federal hiring, DeShan Mango King. The webinar is set for 2:30 p.m. (ET) Tuesday, October 5. Please access this session through a Chrome browser.

Some will recall that King recently presented to the Saint Leo Career Services audience of students, faculty, and staff once during the current semester. In mid-September, she shared with potential applicants directions on organizing and formatting resumes for federal positions. King returns October 5 to explain more about the interviewing process that may follow.  Materials from the first session will be available again, so no attendees will be left behind if they missed the September session.

During the upcoming webinar, King will cover the difference between applying for positions in the private, corporate world and  the federal government. She will discuss important resources, such as the website www.usajobs.gov; navigating a job search; the federal interviewing process itself; and related details.

King is a senior human resource specialist for the Recruitment Policy and Outreach Office of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, known as OPM. In that role, she develops training materials and conducts workshops and briefings for the general public about federal employment. Between her own career with the government and prior service in the U.S. Army, King has more than 35 years of public service, and so has a breadth of knowledge and personal experience to share.
