Chaplain’s Challenge pits Lions against Bulls in Ultimate Frisbee on October 9

It will be the Lions vs. the Bulls when Saint Leo University Ministry Lions take on the University of South Florida Catholic Student Union Bulls in an Ultimate Frisbee match.

“Legend has it that Saint Leo and USF have played an Ultimate Frisbee game, and at the last meeting, Saint Leo emerged victorious,” said Father Randall Meissen in a video message to USF students. Meissen is the university chaplain for Saint Leo.

“I’m launching 2021’s Chaplain’s Challenge,” Meissen said. “This is the challenge to your chaplain, Father Kyle Bell,” Meissen said. “We’re waiting for you. Bring your best Ultimate Frisbee team to the intramural field at Saint Leo on October 9.”

The winner will claim “one of the most coveted trophies in the galaxy”—the Chaplain’s Challenge Cup!

Faculty and staff are invited to attend the game at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 9, at the Saint Leo Intramural Field, and root on our Lions.

University Ministry is holding a scrimmage for student tryouts for its team. Faculty and staff can encourage students to sign up using the “GroupMe” app. Instructions can be found at Chaplain’s Challenge Cup. Students may also email ministry@saintleo.edu.

Everyone is invited to join in the pre-game Mass at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 9, at Saint Jude Chapel by the Student Activities Building, and then head to the Saint Leo Intramural Field for the 11 a.m. Ultimate Frisbee game.
