Learn about open house, resources for new Saint Leo WorldWide students

Saint Leo WorldWide has a range of programming options available to help new students who are not part of the University Campus population be aware of resources that are available to them right from their first terms with us, from wherever they study. It is beneficial for faculty and staff to know about these resources, too.

To help new education center and online students learn about the university, Saint Leo WorldWide hosts Virtual Open Houses on the Wednesday before the start of each term. Virtual Open House serve as an important purpose in helping our new students become acquainted with the university and learn about all we have to offer them.

Virtual Open House is offered at 4 and 7 p.m. ET, and features helpful information from nine university departments. The  departments include Student Life, Career Services, Information Technology, Cannon Memorial Library, Financial Aid, Counseling Services, Accessibility Services, Veterans Education Benefits, and the Office of Military Affairs and Services.

Once students receive an introduction to these departments and their services, they have the opportunity to ask questions. Students who are not able to attend a live webinar can request a viewing of a recorded session.

In addition to presenting the Virtual Open House, WorldWide Advising hosts several Welcome Webinars for new online students leading up to the start of each term. New Saint Leo online students are invited to attend a 45-60 minute webinar, led by a WorldWide student advisor, that focuses on:

  • Logging into class
  • Ordering books
  • Accessing resources such as tutorial services and the online library
  • Turning in assignments
  • General Saint Leo information and policies
  • Important contacts

New education center students can benefit from a new, non-credit bearing, self-paced course called First Term Experience. This course is designed to arm students with the necessary resources to ensure their transition to Saint Leo University is as seamless as possible. Participation is not required, but is strongly encouraged for new students.

Faculty and staff who have questions about Saint Leo WorldWide open house events may contact Jessica Graves, associate director of WorldWide Student Life, at jessica.graves02@saintleo.edu.
