‘The Dream Room’ book drive now accepting donations

The Dream Room, a program on the university’s radio station, WLSL-FM, 92.7, is assisting faculty member Dr. Ebony Perez and holding a book drive for Gulf Coast Elementary School.

The new charter school in neighboring Hernando County is focused on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math). The school would greatly benefit from a selection of new books to help students build their reading skills, according to the book drive organizers.

Book donations will be accepted now through Wednesday, April 7. Faculty and staff may make their donations through one of three ways:

  1. Shop the school’s Scholastic Books page at orders.scholastic.com/XXDLJ. Under the “Shop by Collection” tab, you will see the options for “Spanish/Bilingual Books” and “Celebrating Diversity.” The class code is XXDLJ. Books can be delivered directly to the school (see address below).
  2. Purchase books at www.thriftbooks.com or www.amazon.com and have them shipped to the school (see address below).
  3. Drop new or used books in book drive donation boxes in the Student Activities Building or Residence Life Office (Apartment 6) at University Campus.
