Showing our unity: Participate in virtual photo mosaic project during March

As a symbol of continued unity, Student Activities is inviting students, faculty, and staff to participate in a virtual photo mosaic project during the month of March. Participants will submit photos to be added to an online image framework of linked hands. The framework will be comprised of smaller tiles, each displaying a photo of the community member.

Saint Leo University has embraced many unique and creative ways to come together this academic year. Despite escalating racial tensions nationally and ongoing health and safety challenges during the pandemic, students are proud of the united, inclusive community they have fostered during this time. And this mosaic project is a way to visually share the university’s unity.

“Through our many identities, we are not only able to share such a diverse campus that allows us to be ourselves, we find that we can come together and unite through hard times,” Alexandra Jones, a Class of 2022 criminal justice major, said about this project. “This mosaic is a testament to that.”

Starting on Monday, March 1, participants may visit a website (link available soon) where they will be prompted to complete a simple form and upload their photo. All submissions will be moderated so there will be a slight delay before the photos are posted live on the mosaic. From there, participants can hover over live images on the mosaic to see other submitted photos.

Once the month is completed, a final high-resolution image will be framed and on display to the public. This image will stand as a reminder of our community’s unity during this challenging and historic time.
