Saint Leo community observes Ash Wednesday, begins Lenten season

The Saint Leo community observed Ash Wednesday while outside and wearing masks this year.  Members of the University Ministry team distributed the blessed ashes on February 17 outside of Saint Jude Chapel and the Student Activities Building at University Campus.

Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of Lent, the Catholic liturgical season consisting of 40 days of fasting, prayer, and penitence, which leads to Easter and the celebration of Christ’s resurrection.

The sacrament of reconciliation with confessions during Lent will be available to students, faculty, and staff 3:30–4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at Saint Jude Chapel; at 6:30 p.m. prior to Mass at the Abbey Church; and during the weekly adoration/praise and worship at 6–7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Abbey Church.
