Celebrate the Class of 2020 this Saturday

Saint Leo University will celebrate the academic accomplishments of the Class 2020 with a virtual celebration, launching at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 11. Members of the Class of 2020 will be able to visit a dedicated website where they can view special video messages from members of the university community and browse through slides featuring fellow graduates.

The virtual celebration website will be available to access at saintleo.edu/commencement.

“While the university will be inviting all Class of 2020 graduates to an official commencement ceremony during the spring of 2021, we felt it was important to celebrate our graduates sooner,” said Saint Leo University President Jeffrey Senese. “The virtual celebration will recognize the accomplishments of the Class of 2020 and the years of hard work and sacrifice that went into earning their degrees. We cannot do enough to celebrate them.”

The virtual celebration website will feature video messages from President Jeffrey Senese as well as Saint Leo University Board of Trustees Chair D. Dewey Mitchell, Vice President of Academic Affairs Mary Spoto, and Saint Leo University Alumni Association President Amber Loring ’06 ’07.

In addition to hearing from university administration and leaders, several university faculty members and students have recorded inspiring messages that will be shared with the graduates. The Saint Leo Singers, one of the university’s musical groups, also virtually recorded a performance for the grads.

To complement the interactive virtual celebration site, the Class of 2020 will have access to a suite of Saint Leo University social media graphics to help celebrate their graduation online.

Saint Leo University’s Class of 2020 is comprised of 1,975 graduates—with 386 earning degrees from the College of Arts and Sciences, 880 from the Tapia College of Business, and 709 from the College of Education and Social Services. More than 760 members of the Class of 2020 earned graduate-level degrees.

All Class of 2020 graduates will receive an email on Saturday, July 11, inviting them to view the Class of 2020 Virtual Celebration website. Information also will be shared on the university’s social media channels.
