Donate candy for Haunted Marmion, free event set for October 29

Grab an extra bag (or two) of Halloween candy while shopping and donate it for Saint Leo’s Haunted Marmion! This year’s event will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, in Marmion-Snyder Hall at University Campus.

This annual event, sponsored by the Office of Residence Life, is open to the public and will offer a haunted house as well as tamer activities for children.

There will be trick-or-treating in Snyder Hall within the building, and Haunted Marmion will feature games, crafts, and other interactive Halloween-themed activities as well as Halloween treats in The Lion’s Den in Marmion-Snyder.

Candy donations are needed and welcome to help serve the local community. Donated bags of candy must contain individually wrapped pieces. Candy donations will be accepted until Friday, October 25, and must be dropped off at the Office of Residence Life in Apartment 6.

In addition, Saint Leo will be collecting canned/nonperishable food items at Haunted Marmion. In keeping with Saint Leo’s core values, these items will be donated to those in need.

FEAR is the theme for this year’s haunted house in Marmion Hall. Guests are invited to “Fear the Dark Place” as they travel through an augmented reality within the haunted house.

Encourage students to earn community service hours by helping with this year’s Haunted Marmion. Actors (no experience necessary) and tour guides are needed for the haunted house. Practices take place at 6 p.m. in The Lion’s Den on October 14, 21, and 28.

Students also may earn community service hours by decorating the haunted house on the day of the event; helping with fun Halloween events in The Lion’s Den during Haunted Marmion; directing guests inside and outside the haunted house; handing out candy to trick-or-treaters; assisting at guest sign-in; helping take down decorations; and more.
