Leaders in the Industry webinar continues April 18

Saint Leo University Career Services is presenting the Leaders in the Industry webinar series. This series of interactive webinars offers students the opportunity to explore career fields with today’s working professionals.

The next live webinar, Getting Hired in Law Enforcement: Everything You Wanted to Know,  is scheduled for 7 p.m., ET, Thursday, April 18. Career Services welcomes Richard (Rick) DeMarco, retired U.S. Marine Corps MC master sergeant and military field recruiter and veterans ‘advocate for Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO). During the session, DeMarco will discuss civilian and sworn law enforcement positions, requirements for employment, and obstacles to acceptance, including poor credit, arrest records, tattoos, and more.

DeMarco obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in management from the University of Phoenix in 2011. Prior to his service with the OCSO, he developed successful young men and women in academics and sports as a Naval Science ROTC instructor in two large high schools — Issaquah High School, WA for 10 years and Oviedo High School, FL, for three years. He enjoyed coaching and training cadets to be the best they could be.

Originally from Long Island, NY, DeMarco now travels nationally to find and recruit military members and veterans to serve and protect in one of the top six “Best for Vets” law enforcement agencies in the country, as awarded multiple years by Military Times
