President Senese, along with the leadership of the Donald R. Tapia College of Business and its computer science faculty, hosted a grand opening for Saint Leo’s future software engineering laboratory on Wednesday, August 29. Classroom 230 in the business building is now equipped with 32 new systems that will be used to teach software design and engineering. Saint Leo expects to have new bachelor’s and master’s degree offerings in the subject area in Fall 2019, and the lab will support the teaching of those programs. Until then, the classroom is being used to support teaching in existing programs. Software engineering will be added to Saint Leo’s technology curriculum, which already includes degree offerings in computer information systems, computer science, and cybersecurity. For more information, contact Dr. Derek Mohammed, chair of the computer science and information systems department, at derek.mohammed@saintleo.edu.
