Student-veteran orientation, welcome back barbecue scheduled for August 28

Faculty and staff, be sure to invite new and returning military students, student-veterans and military-/veteran-connected students attending class at University Campus and Saint Leo’s nearby education centers to attend the student-veteran transition/orientation course and welcome back barbecue.

The first session will be 9 to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 28, in TECO Hall in the Donald R. Tapia College of Business building. This session will be recorded for use at Saint Leo’s other teaching locations.

The barbecue (chow) will be 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., August 28, at the Military Resource Center, which is in Apartment Building 4 in the former Lakeside Room. A second session will be 1 to 3:30 p.m. in the MRC.

Students will have the opportunity to meet with state and local representatives to discuss tools designed to improve their transition from the military and ensure a productive academic year.

Agencies and university departments participating include: U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation; the Center for Academic Vision and Excellence (the CAVE); Tutoring Services; Saint Leo Bookstore; Daniel A. Cannon Memorial Library; Pasco-Hernando Career Source; Office of Career Services; Registrar’s Office; Counseling Services; and the Office of Accessibility Services.
