SESS interdisciplinary conference – 21st Century Issues in a Challenging World

The School of Education and Social Services (SESS) will host its first interdisciplinary conference, “21st Century Issues in a Challenging World,” from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Tuesday, May 1, in the Student Community Center, Greenfelder-Denlinger Boardrooms A-C.

There will be presentations from various disciplines and breakout sessions, along with keynote speaker John Picciano, who is CEO of Oglethorpe Inc., and a member of the Saint Leo College Class of 1969. His topic will be “Shedding Light on Addiction.”

Additional topics for the conference include domestic violence; school safety and response; autism; brain-based learning; substance abuse; project management; technology in education; caregiver support; and animal-assisted therapy.

The conference features Saint Leo presenters from criminal justice, education, social work, and human services. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn more about the programs that Saint Leo University has to offer, and the chance to win university merchandise.

The conference cost is $60, and the following discounts may be applied: $10 discount (alumni); $35 discount (faculty); and full discount (presenters and Saint Leo students). Breakfast and lunch are included in the conference fee. Continuing Education Unit credits are provided for a $25 processing fee.
