Space heater notice from Facilities Management

With the temperatures dropping, it is important to remember that the use of space heaters is not allowed, per fire code.

Recently, the use of the heaters caused overloaded circuits and power outages in various buildings and offices around University Campus. Not only can the power outage be a minor inconvenience, but it can also be a major headache if an office loses power while an employees are working on important documents and their computers shut down.

Space heaters are also a major fire hazard. The town of St. Leo began annual fire inspections beginning the first week of November. If a space heater is seen, it could prompt a fire code violation and possible fines for the university.

If the temperatures in your office is too hot or too cold, the best solution is to submit a work order to have it corrected. Click here to access the Facilities Management work order system.

Submitting a work order will ensure that your request is handled in a timely manner. If you choose to call with your request, you will still be prompted to enter the work order in the system.
