Announcement from the Vice President of Academic Affairs

I am pleased to announce several leadership changes within Academic Affairs. These changes will complement the recent centralization of off-campus initiatives (Center for Online Learning and Continuing Education) under the new Worldwide Division by providing a solid foundation for academic excellence, and improved communication and collaboration across disciplines and all members of our community.

Dr. Carol Walker, currently dean of the School of Education and Social Services, will be the new assistant vice president for Academics and Worldwide liaison where she will work to improve faculty hiring, development, and planning to ensure improved academic excellence, and faculty and student support.

Dr. Susan Kinsella, currently regional academic director and chair of the Human Services program, will be the new dean of the School of Education and Social Services. Building on the successes of the Human Services program, Dr. Kinsella will work with faculty, staff, and students to improve academic quality within each discipline, identify areas for growth, and develop a leadership team focused on talent development, collaboration, and program success.

Dr. Heather Parker, currently chair of Social Sciences, will be the new associate dean of the School of Arts and Sciences supporting Dean Mary Spoto in operations, administration, and coordinating new program development, including the development of an integrated launch team for new programs to be offered in the coming year.

Please join me in congratulating Drs. Walker, Kinsella, and Parker and offering your support as they assume their new roles on July 1.

Dr. Michael Nastanski
Vice President of Academic Affairs
