On Sunday, November 20, members of the Saint Leo University community and the public gathered in the Wellness Center to attend the investiture ceremony for Rabbi A. James Rudin, who was honored with the Papal Knighthood of the Order of St. Gregory the Great.
Rudin, co-founder of Saint Leo University’s Center for Catholic-Jewish Studies, was presented with the honor by Most Reverend Mark O’Connell, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Boston, who represented Pope Francis during the ceremony. Rudin was honored for his work in building bridges of mutual respect, knowledge, and understanding between Christians and Jews.
The ceremony marked only the third time in history that a pope has awarded an American rabbi with this honor. See photos from the event in the gallery below.
