Encourage students to pitch ideas for 2020 Business Plan Competition by March 5

The 2020 Business Plan Competition is now accepting applications from student teams to pitch their ideas to “The Lion’s Den.” This competition, part of  the seventh annual Business Week, is an opportunity to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit of Saint Leo. Students’ plans must be for an original, new for-profit enterprise. To enter, a team must submit an executive summary by Thursday, March 5, to competition@saintleo.edu. The best six will advance to the Pitch Competition on Thursday, March 26. For more information, rules, format, and deadlines in a PDF, click here.  Prizes will include cash awards, plaques, and letters from university leadership. The competition is open to any major and any undergraduate. Non-business majors are encouraged to apply. Campus, education centers, and online students are eligible to compete. Teams are limited to no more than four members. Competitors must be enrolled in at least one class and be in good academic standing with the university. The Lion’s Den business plan competition will be held on Thursday, March 26, in the afternoon (time to be announced) in the Tapia College of Business building and through Video Teaching and Teleconferencing (VTT). The main goal of the competition is for students to create a new business idea or concept that they will present to a group of “Lions” in a format much like the TV show Shark Tank, in which inventors pitch their business ideas to “sharks.”  In Saint Leo’s competition, presenters want these Lions to invest their money in the business.
