“The Pope’s Rabbi” to visit Saint Leo on November 1

An interreligious conference, Catholic-Jewish Dialogue Internationally, and in Florida, will be presented November 1 for scholars, religious leaders, and interested members of the community by Saint Leo University’s Center for Catholic-Jewish Studies featuring Rabbi Abraham Skorka, rector of Seminario Rabinico Latinoamericano in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In addition to his visit to Saint Leo, Rabbi Skorka will be awarded the 13th Eternal Light Award on November 2, at Temple Emanu-El, in Sarasota, FL. Rabbi Skorka is known for his friendship with Pope Francis.

11:30 a.m. | Luncheon (invitation only) – Student Community Center Boardrooms

12:30 p.m. | Rabbi Skorka, “My Interreligious Journey with Pope Francis” – Student Community Center Boardrooms

2:30 p.m. | Challenges in Catholic-Jewish dialogue, internationally, and in Florida: Catholic and Jewish leaders in dialogue with Rabbi Skorka – Student Community Center Boardrooms

4 p.m. Catholic-Jewish relations “on the ground” in Florida: Interreligious officers of the
Archdiocese of Miami, and the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Orlando, Venice, and
St. Augustine, in dialogue with Rabbi Skorka – Student Community Center Boardrooms

5:30 p.m. Reception hors d’oeuvres on the grounds of Saint Leo Abbey – Saint Leo Abbey Church

6:30 p.m. Rabbi Skorka, “Why Interreligious Dialogue Matters” – Saint Leo Abbey Church
